Nature of business Online retail of small home appliances within the United Kingdom

Nature of our business

We are an online retailer of small home appliances: kettles, toasters, coffee machines, air fryers, blenders, stand mixers, vacuum cleaners and carpet cleaners. The catalogue runs to around 314 products across 4 departments and 23 categories, and includes brands such as Smeg, Ninja, Shark, DeLonghi, KitchenAid, Dyson, Vax, Kenwood, InstantPot, Miele, Numatic, Roborock, NutriBullet, Beko, Jura, electriQ, Rangemaster, Karcher, Hisense, Samsung and Bosch.

We sell within the United Kingdom only and do not ship outside the UK. We are an independent retailer and do not claim to be an official or authorised dealer for any manufacturer named above. There is more on our retailer information page and on about us.

Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable, in line with the Price Marking Order 2004. Delivery is free on every order, with no minimum spend, so the price you see is the price you pay.

Governing law and jurisdiction

Contracts made through this website are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you keep the mandatory protections of the law where you live and may bring proceedings in your local courts. Nothing in our terms and conditions removes or limits your statutory rights.

Your rights as a consumer

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not, you have 30 days to reject them for a refund. After that you can ask for a repair or replacement, and if that does not put things right, a price reduction or the final right to reject. These rights are against us as the retailer you bought from, and they are separate from any guarantee offered by a manufacturer, which is why we never describe them as a warranty. See faulty goods and replacements.

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have 14 days from the day you receive your goods to cancel, and a further 14 days to send them back. That statutory right stands on its own. Our 30-day returns promise, with free return postage, sits on top of it and does not replace or limit it. Refunds are processed within 7 days of the return reaching us.

If you are sending something back, follow the steps on our returns and refunds page first, so your parcel is logged against your order and your refund is not held up.

Independent advice

If you would like impartial advice about your rights, contact the Citizens Advice consumer service at citizensadvice.org.uk. It gives free, independent advice to consumers in the UK and can pass reports on to Trading Standards.

Online dispute resolution

The European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform is no longer open to UK shoppers or traders, so there is no ODR link for us to give you. We are not currently a member of an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme. If we cannot settle a complaint between us, we will tell you in writing which ADR body would be competent to deal with it and whether we are willing to use that body. Your right to take the matter to court is unaffected.

How to raise a complaint

Most problems are sorted out quickly by email. If something has gone wrong, follow these steps.

  1. Email us with your order number. Write to shop@appliancediscounts.co.uk with what happened and what you would like us to do. You can also call 0113 459 2535 or use contact us.
  2. We confirm we have your complaint. You will get a reply acknowledging it, so you know it is with us and being looked at.
  3. We investigate and give you an answer. We deal with complaints in the order they reach us. If we have to wait on a courier or a manufacturer before we can answer properly, we will tell you that and keep you updated until it is settled.
  4. Ask us to review the decision. If our answer does not resolve things, reply and say so. We will look at the complaint again and send you a final written response.
  5. Take it further. If that does not resolve matters, you can seek advice from Citizens Advice, go to the ADR body we name in our final response, or pursue the claim through the courts.

Before complaining about timing, check our delivery information: orders are dispatched within 1 to 2 business days and Royal Mail delivers within 3 to 5 business days after dispatch. Payment is covered in our billing policy, personal data in our privacy policy, and common questions on the FAQ.
