Return & Refund Policy
We want you to be happy with what you buy from us. If something is not right, tell us and send it back. This page sets out your legal rights, the returns promise we add on top of them, and exactly what to do.
Your statutory right to cancel
Because you buy from us online, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you a right to cancel. You have 14 days from the day you receive the goods to tell us you are cancelling, and then a further 14 days to send them back.
You can cancel at any time after you place the order, including before the parcel has been sent. If your order arrives in more than one parcel, the 14 days runs from the day you receive the last item.
You do not need to give a reason. We refund what you paid for the goods, together with any standard delivery charge. Delivery is free on every order with no minimum spend, so there is no delivery charge to refund.
This right is yours in law. Nothing on this page replaces it, shortens it or limits it.
Our 30-day free returns promise
On top of the statutory period, we give you 30 days from delivery to return anything for any reason, with free return postage. Changed your mind, ordered the wrong model, found it does not suit your kitchen: send it back.
The 30 days is our own promise, offered in addition to the law. If you are inside the statutory window you keep every protection the regulations give you, whichever route you use.
| Route | Time limit | Return postage | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Statutory cancellation (2013 Regulations) | 14 days from receipt to cancel, then 14 days to send the goods back | We pay | Refund of the price paid |
| Our returns promise | 30 days from delivery | We pay | Refund of the price paid |
| Faulty goods (Consumer Rights Act 2015) | 30 days to reject, with rights continuing after that | We pay | Refund, repair or replacement |
The condition we expect
- Complete, with all parts, accessories, cables, filters and anything supplied free with the order.
- In a resaleable condition.
- In the original packaging where possible, or packed well enough to reach us undamaged.
You are free to handle and inspect an appliance as you would in a shop: unbox it, look at it, check it fits your worktop. If you go further than that and the value of the goods is reduced as a result, we may reduce your refund to reflect that loss, as the regulations allow. We will always tell you first, and explain why.
Items we cannot take back
The regulations exclude a small number of goods from the right to cancel. The one that can apply to a shop like ours is sealed goods that are not suitable for return for health protection or hygiene reasons, once the seal has been broken.
This rarely affects the appliances we sell. Where it applies at all, it is to smaller items supplied sealed for hygiene reasons, such as replacement filters or cleaning pads. A machine is not excluded simply because you have opened the box and used it. If you are unsure whether an item you have ordered is affected, ask us before you break the seal and we will tell you.
This exclusion never applies to faulty goods. If something is faulty, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply whether the seal is broken or not.
If your item is faulty or not as described
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. That duty is ours as the seller, and it is separate from any guarantee offered by a manufacturer. It is not a warranty, it is a legal right you have against us, and it costs you nothing.
- Within 30 days of delivery you have the short-term right to reject. Tell us and you get a full refund.
- You can ask for a repair or a replacement at any point, and after the first 30 days that is normally the first step. It must be carried out within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to you.
- If you ask for a repair or replacement during the first 30 days, that clock pauses while we sort it out. Once the item comes back to you, you have the remainder of the 30 days, or 7 days, whichever is longer, to reject it.
- If a repair or replacement is not possible, or does not put things right, you can claim a price reduction or use the final right to reject.
- For the first six months after delivery, a fault is treated as having been there from the start unless we can show otherwise. After six months, it is for you to show the fault was there when the goods were delivered.
These rights last well beyond the first month. A claim can generally be brought for up to six years from delivery in England and Wales, and five years in Scotland, although what is reasonable to expect from an appliance depends on its price and its type.
Email us with your order number, a short description of the problem and photos if the fault can be seen. We cover the return postage on faulty goods. There is more on manufacturer guarantees and replacements on our warranty and replacement page.
How to return something
- Contact us inside your return window by email at shop@appliancediscounts.co.uk or by phone on 0113 459 2535.
- Give your order number, the item, and whether you are cancelling under the 2013 Regulations, using our 30-day promise, or reporting a fault. A clear statement is enough to cancel, in your own words, and you do not have to use any particular form.
- We email you a prepaid Royal Mail returns label. It costs you nothing.
- Repack the item securely with every part and accessory, and fix the label to the outer box.
- Hand the parcel in at a Post Office or Royal Mail collection point, and keep your proof of postage in case the parcel goes astray.
- Send it within 14 days of telling us you are cancelling, or inside the 30 days if you are using our returns promise.
- We email you when your return arrives with us, and again when the refund has been sent.
Refunds
We process refunds within 7 days of your return reaching us, to the original payment method. Your bank or card issuer may take a few more days to show the money on your statement.
Where you have cancelled under the 2013 Regulations, the law gives us 14 days from the goods reaching us, or from you showing proof that you have sent them back, whichever comes first. Our 7 days is the shorter promise, and we keep to the statutory deadline in every case.
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable, and your refund is the amount you actually paid. Payment details are covered in our billing policy.
Cancelling before dispatch
Orders are dispatched within 1 to 2 business days, and Royal Mail delivers within 3 to 5 business days after that. If you reach us before the parcel leaves, we will usually stop it and refund you without anything needing to be posted back. If it has already gone, simply refuse the delivery or return it using the steps above. Full timings are on our shipping and delivery page.
