These terms tell you who we are, how we sell to you, and what happens if something goes wrong. They apply to every order placed through our website, and by ordering you accept them. Nothing here takes away the rights UK consumer law gives you.

1. Who we are

We are Appliance Discounts, the trading name of APPLIANCE DISCOUNTS LTD, registered in England and Wales under company number 17294952, registered office Units 8 and 9 Armley Link Trading Estate, Leeds, LS12 2QN, United Kingdom. We sell small home appliances to customers in the UK. See our company information page.

2. How a contract is formed

Your order is an offer to buy from us. The email you receive at checkout only acknowledges that we have it. A contract is formed when we send you a dispatch confirmation, and covers only the items named in it. If we cannot supply something, we will tell you and refund what you paid for it.

3. Prices and VAT

Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable, as the Price Marking Order 2004 requires. You pay the price displayed when you order, and delivery is free, so the checkout total is the price of the goods.

4. Pricing errors

Because the contract forms only on dispatch, if we spot an obvious pricing error beforehand we will contact you and ask whether you want the item at the correct price. If you do not, or we cannot reach you, we will treat the order as cancelled and refund you in full. We will not dispatch at the wrong price without asking you first.

5. Payment

You pay with one of the methods shown at checkout, at the time you order. If the contract does not go ahead we refund you in full. Our billing policy covers how charges and refunds appear.

6. Delivery

We deliver to United Kingdom addresses only. We do not ship outside the UK.

  • Delivery is free on every order, with no minimum spend and no delivery charge ever.
  • Orders are dispatched within 1-2 business days of your order.
  • Royal Mail delivers within 3-5 business days after dispatch.

The 3-5 business day window runs from dispatch, not from when you place the order. Full detail is on our shipping and delivery page.

7. Risk and ownership

Goods become your responsibility once they are delivered to the address you gave us. You own them once we have received payment in full.

8. Your 14-day right to cancel

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have a legal right to cancel an online order. You can cancel from the moment you place it until 14 days after the day on which you, or someone you nominate, receives the goods. If your order arrives in more than one delivery, that period runs from the day you receive the last item. You then have a further 14 days to send the goods back.

To cancel, email shop@appliancediscounts.co.uk or call 0113 459 2535. A clear statement that you are cancelling is enough, and you do not have to give a reason. The law allows us to reduce a refund where handling beyond what is needed to check the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods has reduced their value.

We refund to the payment method you used. The Regulations give us up to 14 days from the day the goods come back to us to refund you, and in practice we process refunds within 7 days of your return reaching us.

9. Our 30-day free returns promise

On top of that statutory right, and without replacing or limiting it, we accept returns for any reason within 30 days, with free return postage. Refunds are processed within 7 days of your return reaching us. Using this promise does not affect your rights under the Regulations or your rights if the goods are faulty. See returns and refunds.

10. Faulty goods and the Consumer Rights Act 2015

Goods we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not:

  1. within 30 days of delivery you can reject them for a full refund;
  2. after that you can ask us to repair or replace them, at our cost;
  3. if a repair or replacement does not put things right, or we cannot do it within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to you, you can claim a price reduction or exercise the final right to reject.

For the first six months after delivery, a fault that appears is treated as having been there when the goods were delivered, unless we can show otherwise. You will not have to pay to return faulty goods.

These are legal rights against us as the seller, not a warranty, and we cannot shorten or exclude them. See faulty goods and replacements.

11. Manufacturer guarantees

Some appliances come with a manufacturer’s guarantee. It is given by the manufacturer, not by us, and is in addition to your legal rights above, so using it never affects what you can ask of us. We are an independent retailer and do not claim to be an official or authorised dealer for any manufacturer, as our retailer status page explains.

12. Our liability to you

If we fail to comply with these terms we are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage you suffer as a result, but not for loss that was not foreseeable. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breach of your legal rights in the goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and for defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987.

We supply goods for domestic and private use. If you use them commercially, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business or business interruption.

13. Events outside our control

We are not liable for delay caused by something outside our reasonable control. We will contact you, and timings extend by the length of the delay. If the delay is substantial you may cancel the order, and we will refund anything you have paid for and not received.

14. Your data

APPLIANCE DISCOUNTS LTD is the data controller for the personal data you give us. We use it to take payment, deliver your order, handle returns and meet our legal obligations, and we do not sell it. Our privacy policy sets out the lawful bases, retention, your rights under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and your right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

15. Complaints

Tell us and we will put it right where we can. Email or call with your order number and what happened. Nothing here affects your right to take legal action. See also our FAQ.

16. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example to reflect a change in the law. A change does not apply to an order we have already accepted.

17. Severability

Each paragraph operates separately. If a court decides any of them is unlawful or unenforceable, the rest remain in force.

18. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring legal proceedings about your order in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can bring proceedings in either Scotland or England and Wales. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can bring proceedings in either Northern Ireland or England and Wales.
