Billing Policy
This page explains what you are charged, when the money leaves your account, what shows on your statement, and how we handle refunds, declined cards and pricing errors.
Prices, currency and VAT
All prices on this website are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable, in line with the Price Marking Order 2004. The price you see on a product page is the price you pay. We do not add handling fees, booking fees or card surcharges.
Free delivery means nothing is added at checkout
We offer FREE delivery on every order. There is no minimum spend and no delivery charge, ever, so your total is simply the items in your basket. We sell to the United Kingdom only and do not ship outside the UK. Orders are dispatched within 1 to 2 business days and Royal Mail delivers within 3 to 5 business days after dispatch, as our shipping and delivery page explains.
How and when we take payment
Payment is taken in full when you place your order. Our payment provider asks your bank to authorise the amount, then collects it, so the charge may show as pending briefly before it settles. If your bank asks you to confirm the payment with a 3-D Secure check, the order is submitted only once that check is complete.
Your order is an offer to buy, and the contract is formed when we confirm dispatch. Taking payment at the point of order does not by itself mean we have accepted it. If we cannot supply what you ordered, we cancel the order and refund you in full.
Confirmation, receipts and your bank statement
When you place an order we email a confirmation showing your order number, the items, each price and the total paid, and we email again on dispatch. Keep those emails, as they are your receipt. If you need a VAT invoice for an order where VAT applies, email your order number to shop@appliancediscounts.co.uk and we will send one.
Your bank statement shows our trading name, Appliance Discounts, or a shortened form of it, and the amount matches your confirmation email. If a charge looks unfamiliar, send us the date and amount and we will check.
If a payment fails or your card is declined
If a payment is declined, the order is not placed and no goods are held. Common reasons:
- the billing address does not match the one your bank holds for the card
- the card number, expiry date or security code was mistyped
- the card has expired, or your bank has blocked the transaction
- the 3-D Secure check was not completed
A declined attempt can still leave a temporary authorisation on your account. That is money held by your bank, not taken by us, and it usually clears by itself within a few business days, depending on your bank.
Fraud and address verification checks
Orders go through automated checks, including address and security code verification, and we may contact you to confirm a detail before dispatch. If we cannot verify an order we cancel it and refund in full. These checks exist only to prevent fraud, and our privacy policy explains how that data is handled.
Pricing errors
Occasionally a price is listed incorrectly. Because the contract is formed when we confirm dispatch, if we spot an obvious error before then we will contact you. You can continue at the correct price or cancel for a full refund. We never charge more than the price you agreed.
We never store your full card details
Card details are entered directly into our payment provider’s secure systems. We do not see or store your full card number, and we never store your security code. At most we see the card type and the last four digits.
We will never ask for your full card number, PIN or security code by email or phone. A request like that is not from us.
How refunds are processed
Refunds always go back to the card or account used for the original payment; we cannot send them anywhere else.
| Stage | Timing |
|---|---|
| Your return reaches us | Day 0 |
| We process the refund | Within 7 days |
| The money appears in your account | Typically a further 3 to 5 business days, depending on your bank |
Once we have sent a refund, the remaining wait is with your bank. If it has not arrived a week after we confirm it, ask us for the refund reference. We offer 30-day returns for any reason with FREE return postage, as set out on our returns and refunds page.
Your legal rights
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from the day you receive the goods to cancel, then a further 14 days to send them back. That right is yours by law. Our 30-day free-returns promise sits on top of it and does not replace, shorten or limit it. Where you cancel under the regulations, we must refund you within 14 days of the goods reaching us; in practice we process refunds within 7 days.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not, you have 30 days to reject them for a refund, then a right to repair or replacement, and after that a price reduction or a final right to reject. These rights are against us as the retailer you bought from, and they are separate from and additional to any guarantee offered by a manufacturer, as our replacements page explains. Nothing on this page limits your statutory rights.
